Courses for Beginners


introductory courses

The centre offers a range of computing activities for novices to Linux, with three courses designed to cover the most essential knowledge areas. From Basic System Installation, through fundamental command skills, to Advanced office applications for those wishing to move away from proprietary software, and web development using the free open-source software tools available on GNU/Linux systems.

Prerequisites
As a "Beginner" you are expected to have a basic literacy in IT, i.e. Ability to use a keyboard, an understanding of file systems, and practical experience with some of the following types of software packages - word processing, graphic image manipulation, web browser, and email.

All beginner courses are of one week duration.
